on 4.22 Earth Day

Children comic ¡§The Adventure of Victoria¡¨ published by Society for the Protection of the Harbour (SPH), is ready for charity sale today (22 April), coincided with the Earth Day.

A remarkable lot of 65 primary schools in Hong Kong participate in the sale. To kickoff the meaningful activity and support the Earth Day, SPH has invited more than 250 students to take part in the charity sale, together with the author and cartoonist of the book and numerous supportive singers, to paint a mega drawing (30 feet x 40 feet) featuring the 2 main characters of the book. The finished work will be exhibited in the venue, Shatin New Town Plaza Entrance Arena, for 3 days.

Various artists like Isabella Leong, Deep Ng, Wilfred Lao Ho-Lung, Don Li, Mandy Chiang, Renee Dai and etc attended the event and promoted the message of harbour protection to the public.

A booth was also set up for charity sale on the spot. The Chairman of SPH, Ms Christine Loh, the author Ms. Monica Wong and the cartoonist BigSoil are present for autograph. Christine is pleased to see the birth of the book after 6 months of preparation, ¡§this book is not only designated for children indeed. It has also included a lot of useful information on environmental protection. We hope that parents can also have a rewarding learning while reading the story book with their children.¡¨

Christine is also enthusiastic to announce, ¡§some participating schools of the charity sale have already called us up for more copies. Thanks to the excellent effort of the author and cartoonist who have produced such wonderful story and beautiful drawing. I am positive that after the series of educational activities in ¡¥Kids Love the Harbour¡¦, we are able to inspire a new generation of environmental pioneers. ¡§

The storybook is yet to have an ending. A drawing competition will be held, in which children will decide how the harbour should look like.
